Advanced Terrain Grass (ATG)

Advanced Terrain Grass (ATG) is a solution designed to replace Unity's terrain engine detail rendering system, eliminating CPU spikes caused by new grass patches coming into view. It also offers significant improvements in lighting and wind animation. ATG supports the Universal Rendering Pipeline and High Definition Rendering Pipeline, and is compatible with third-party solutions like Vegetation Studio. It's not an authoring tool, but rather a rendering solution that takes over the rendering of grass and details added to terrains. ATG requires Unity 2021.3 or later, but older versions are also available.

ATG supports the following rendering pipelines:

  • Universal Rendering Pipeline (URP): 7.1.7, 7.2, 10.0+, 11.0+, 12.1+
  • High Definition Rendering Pipeline (HDRP): 10.0, 12.1+

ATG is compatible with third-party solutions like Vegetation Studio and allows for advanced lighting and bending features. It's not compatible with runtime distributed grass.
