ProbeGridAndCut is a free editor extension that simplifies the process of placing Light Probes in your scene. It allows you to create a grid of light probes and then delete unwanted ones using various tools. With this extension, you can control the number of light probes on each axis and remove probes that are not needed.
You can cut probes based on colliders, such as tags, distance from objects, or object dimensions. You can also cut probes based on lighting information, such as baked light. This tool is designed to handle small to medium-sized grids of light probes, with a limit of around 10,000 probes per group.
For more information, please refer to the manual. This tool was created in the author's free time, and any support is appreciated. The code is open source and available on GitHub.
ProbeGridAndCut is compatible with most Unity versions from 5.6 to the present. It is independent of the rendering pipeline and platform in use. The demo scene may require conversion to URP or HDRP using Unity's Render Pipeline Converter.
